Extração de óleo do mesocarpo de bacaba. Infoteca-e

Mathematical modeling of mechanical horizontal screw oil extractor CIGR Journal
BAKO, TANKO; ENYI, OBETTA SAMUEL; IMOLEMHE, UMOGBAI VICTOR.
A theory using mechanical expression was proposed from the physics of oil expression in a screw press to characterize a mathematical model. The general oil expression equation was solved for three machine parameters (choke clearances, screw shaft clearances and screw shaft speeds) which simulate the machine parameters effects in the overall screw expeller process. The mathematical model was validated by the experimental data obtained from pressing fish oil with a screw press, using regression analysis. The experimental oil extraction data was fitted to the model and the quality of fit evaluated. A good fit was indicated by correlation coefficient of 0.9983, coefficient of determination of 0.9967, absolute average percentage deviation of 4.8 %, coefficient...

Effect of Expeller Press Parameters on Fish Oil Extraction CIGR Journal
BAKO, TANKO; UMOGBAI, VICTOR I.; OBETTA, SAMUEL E..
An investigation was carried out on the effect of expeller press parameters such as choke clearances (1, 2 and 3 mm), screw clearances (1, 2 and 3 mm) and screw (worm) shaft speeds (50, 60 and 70 rpm) on fish oil extraction. The oil extraction rate and extraction efficiency had a negative relationship with choke clearances and screw clearances but had a positive relationship with screw (worm) shaft speeds. The oil extraction rate and extraction efficiency were found to decrease with increase in choke clearances and also decreased with increase in screw clearances. Increase in screw (worm) shaft speeds from 50 to 70 rpm was observed to increase oil extraction rate and extraction efficiency. The extraction loss had a positive relationship with choke...

Dynamical modelling of a reactive extrusion process: Focus on residence time distribution in a fully intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruder and application to an alginate extraction process ArchiMer
Baron, Regis; Vauchel, Peggy; Kaas, Raymond; Arhaliass, Abdellah; Legrand, Jack.
The context of this study is the modelling of reactive extrusion process based on an alginate extraction protocol. Residence Time Distribution (RTD) is one important part to predict the kinetics of reactive compounds. A simple model is proposed to predict RTD in fully intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruders without reaction. This model, which can be easily extended to reactive case in a future work, is based on the extension of an axial dispersion model, including control parameters (screw speed and flow rate) and geometrical parameters (screw profile and die design). Simulations were performed for various operating and geometrical conditions so as to illustrate possibilities offered by the proposed model. Validation was conducted for two different...

Extraction of pectin from apple pomace BABT
Canteri-Schemin,Maria Helene; Fertonani,Heloísa Cristina Ramos; Waszczynskyj,Nina; Wosiacki,Gilvan.
As apple-processing units are now in expansion in Brazil, industrial by-products like pomace play an important role in pectin manufacture. The objective of this article was to determine a pratical follow-up to the extraction of pectin from apple pomace and to characterize it in a laboratory, on a small scale, aiming at establishing the optimum conditions for acid extraction. The highest yields were obtained when [1]apple pomace was dried and ground to obtain an apple flour to be used as raw material, [2] citric or nitric acids were used and [3] when the citric acid concentration was 6.2 g/100 ml and the time of reaction was 153 minutes. The apple variety in itself was not significant in pectin yield. The degree of esterification (DE = 68.84 %) of the...

Extraction time for soybean isoflavone determination BABT
Carrão-Panizzi,Mercedes C.; Favoni,Silvana Pedroso de Goés; Kikuchi,Akio.
Studies were carried out on the optimization of the extraction procedures for isoflavones determination in soybean by HPLC. Isoflavones were extracted from 100 mg samples of full fat soybean flour "Kinako" (milled toasted grains). Recovery of average total isoflavones was higher when extraction was performed with agitation(217.2 mg/100g), than without agitation(191.0 mg/100g). Isoflavone extraction without agitation for 1,4, 20 and 24 hours, were equally efficient for total and individual compounds. These results suggested that an efficient isoflavone recovery could be achieved with extraction for one hour with agitation.

Effects of drying air temperature and grain initial moisture content on soybean quality (Glycine Max (L.) Merrill) REA
Coradi,Paulo C.; Fernandes,Carlos H. P.; Helmich,Jean C.; Goneli,André L. D..
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the effect of air-drying temperature and initial moisture content on volume shrinkage, physical quality and oil extraction yield of soybean grains. The grains used in this experiment were harvested at two distinct moisture levels of 19 and 25%. Then, these grains were taken to dryness at three different air temperatures of 75 °C, 90 °C and 105 °C, in a forced circulation convection oven of the air. The results showed a drying time reduction with increasing air temperatures. Regarding volume shrinkage, moisture content reductions influenced grain volume and the Rahman's model was the one that best fit the data. Moreover, the higher the air temperature, the greater the effects on soybean grain shrinkage and physical...

Characterization of Seed Oils of Pterodon emarginatus Vogel (Sucupira) Obtained by Different Extraction Methods BABT
Costa-Singh,Tainara; Jorge,Neuza.
Abstract The present study aims to evaluate the influence of extraction methods on the quality of bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity in Pterodon emarginatusVogel (sucupira) oils. The oils were extracted from the sucupira seeds by Soxhlet and by the extraction system of Bligh & Dyer. The oils were analyzed as to fatty acid profile, tocopherols, phytosterols, carotenoids, total phenolics, and total antioxidant capacity. The extraction by Soxhlet showed better yield of total lipids and was more efficient to extract tocopherols, phytosterols, and carotenoids, besides presenting better antioxidant activity by DPPH•. However, this method showed insufficient capacity to extract the polar lipid components of the sample, as evidenced by the low...

Development and optimization of extractives from Astronium urundeuva (allemão) Engl. by factorial design BABT
Cunha,Fabíola Pessoa da; Costa,Luana Janine Lopes da; Fernandes,Ana Josane Dantas; Souza,Tatiane Pereira de; Soares,Luiz Alberto Lira.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influences from variables of preparation on dry residue and total tannins from macerates of Astronium urundeuva barks. Thus, a 3 ² factorial design was used to study the importance of plant proportion (10, 15 and 20 %, w/v) and the ethanol concentration (40, 60 and 80 %, v/v) on the selected response. Mathematical models were fitted according to experimental data. The validated equations were used to generate response surfaces. The analysis of the surfaces showed that the optimum conditions to obtain extractive preparations with high extractive efficiency for tannins were: 10 % (w/v) of plant with ethanol 40 % (v/v) as solvent.

Assessment of four different detergents used to extract membrane proteins from Xylella fastidiosa by two-dimensional electrophoresis BJM
Di Ciero,Luciana; Bellato,Cláudia de M.; Meinhardt,Lyndel W.; Ferrari,Fernanda; Castellari,Rafael R.; Marangoni,Sérgio; Novello,José C..
Four different detergents, ASB 14, SB 3-10, CHAPS and Triton X100, were utilized to determine the optimal detergent for the solubilization of membrane proteins from the phytopathogenic bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. These proteins were differentially solubilized in distinct buffers containing the detergent and subjected to bidimensional electrophoresis within the non-linear pH range of 3-10. The detergents ASB 14 and SB 3-10 were the most effective revealing 221 and 157 spots, respectively. CHAPS and Triton X100 were less effective and revealed only 72 and 43 spots, respectively. MALDI-TOF tryptic peptide mass fingerprinting of 18 excised proteins from the ASB 14 treatment revealed that 83% were membrane proteins and that the theoretical efficiency of...

Extraction model of low methoxyl pectin from apple pomace effects of acid concentration and time on the process and the product BABT
Fertonani,Heloísa Cristina Ramos; Scabio,Ardalla; Carneiro,Eliana Beleski Borba; Schemim,Maria Helene Canteri; Nogueira,Alessandro; Wosiacki,Gilvan.
In Brazil, one of the top apple producing countries in the world, apple processing is an increasing activity, with pomace as the main by-product. To extract pectin from pomace, factors affecting process and product should be studied for optimization. A model to produce LMP directly from dried apple pomace was established observing the effects of HNO3 concentration and the time of reaction at 97ºC, analyzed from a statistical and practical point of view. The model for gravimetric yield (R² =0.9834) predicts the highest value of 20.07 g/100 g (126 mM; 14.07 min) of a pectin with a degree of esterification of 48.49%. The model for degree of esterification of extracted pectin (R²= 0.9797) predicts the lowest value of 43.73% (200 mM; 10.07 min) with a yield of...

Neural modeling of bromelain extraction by reversed micelles BABT
Fileti,Ana Maria Frattini; Fischer,Gilvan Anderson; Tambourgi,Elias Basile.
A pulsed-cap microcolumn was used for bromelain extraction from pineapple juice by reversed micelles. The cationic micellar solution used BDBAC as the surfactant, isooctane as the solvent and hexanol as the co-solvent. In order to capture the dynamic behavior and the nonlinearities of the column, the operating conditions were modified in accordance with the central composite design for the experiment, using the ratio between the light phase flow rate and the total flow rate, and the time interval between pulses. The effects on the purification factor and on total protein yield were modeled via neural networks. The best topology was defined as 16-9-2, and the input layer was a moving window of the independent variables. The neural model successfully...

Aflatoxin removal of peanut meals with aqueous ethanol Scientia Agricola
Fonseca,H.; Regitano-d'Arce,M.A.B..
A preliminary approach to achieve compatible simultaneous extraction of aflatoxin and residual oil from pressed oil meals was conducted to determine the minimum amount of water to be added to ethanol versus necessary time to achieve complete removal of aflatoxin. Commercial anhydrous, 96, 93 and 90°GL ethanol were utilized in trials with Soxhlet extractors. Commercial anhydrous ethanol did not remove aflatoxin completely and the extraction efficiency in minutes was directly proportional to the amount of water present in the ethanol, as expected. Although 96°GL ethanol was efficient, alcoholic strengths between 96 and 99°GL need be evaluated to improve oil extraction, provided they do not decrease aflatoxin removal efficiency.

Extraction of Soluble Polysaccharides from Grape Skins Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Gil Cortiella,Mariona; Peña-Neira,Álvaro.
Obtaining polysaccharides from grape cell walls is an interesting topic for the wine industry given its implications with regards to wine treatments and potential sensory attributes. In the present work, several conditions (i.e., a chelating agent, pH, titratable acidity, extraction time, number of successive extractions, solid to liquid ratio and alcoholic fermentation) were tested to assess their effects on the yield of soluble polysaccharides obtained from grape skins. Among the four tested solvents (i.e., water, tartaric acid, ammonium oxalate, and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), aqueous ammonium oxalate was the most effective for polysaccharide extraction but also produced the highest amount of protein impurities. Increasing the number of successive...
